Drawings are at once the heartbeat, the bones, the musculature, and the spirit of all art. Drawings constitute a unique language for each artist, and the viewer is privileged to glimpse the skeletal elements of the art process first-hand. Drawings are personal: they reveal , they are intended as notes, they are a means to an end, and they represent the embryo of genius...the moment of an artist's truth.

Voices
Everyone knows where that special place exists - the one where the myriad of obnoxious, overlapping, clashing voices in our minds just seem to disappear. There is about 100 or more acres of abandoned farmland nearby by house. Sometimes, a nice walk through the overgrowth tends to de-frag my soul and rid my psyche of unnecessary and meaningless stress. Again, the simplest things tend to point me in the right direction and set my compass in clear perspective.
Here...my first egg tempera painting. This is a demonstration piece that accompanied my lesson. I am thrilled at the idea of grinding my own paints and physically mixing them with egg yolk. The quality/feel of the paint produced was surprising and it is my hope to pursue this medium further.

Beautiful work and I loved reading your post :) Using handmade paints would be interesting and fun! This turned out awesome.
This is really beautiful, and I so enjoyed reading your post. I agree - there are some places that invite calm. How lovely that you have such a place nearby!

Very nice! Great work for your first tempra, I can feel the serenity in that place.
This is just beautiful! I love the colour of the bricks.
It is a beautiful medium and you've created an inspiring piece!
Reminds me a bit of Wyeth in color and mood. It's wonderful, and I've always admired that medium.
Yes, indeed. The abstraction and subtraction dictate further the charm of this fine study. A true epitome of York County, PA.
The egg tempera looks creamier and more flexible in your painting than a normal tempera, was it?
