Monster

Has the Industrial Revolution and its consequences been a disaster for the human race or has its influence been a necessity for a better quality of life? No matter which side you may agree with, one thing is for sure -- its existence has led to the creation of a large number of monsters...monsters that society has yet to not only fathom, but contain.

I would say that it's not so much the machines that are a problem, it's man's use of them, man's motivation for the use of machinery, usually for profit above all else that is the real monster. Still, this is a beautiful work of art, visually as well as causing you to reflect.

Thanks to those monsters we have evolved! The devil was in the details. The Arts and Crafts movement came as a result of a few craftsmen who watched as industrialization brought with it, mass production and mediocrity. Your work, in contrast with some of the content on IFRI represents this attention to detail and dedication to your craft. Kudos.

Your work really opened a new window for me on what 'illustration' can be. I am very inspired by your work -- the concepts as well as the aesthetic elegance and beauty. Thank you!!!

Ah...the story. I won't write more than Misterhow, but I'll say more than he wrote for me. We, I want more...blah blah. Anyway, the onset of the IR has changed us forever, for better or worse...but monsters, as you describe them, are usually quite docile. It's the monstrous acts from "normal" folks that is more the norm -- and is bothersome to me.

This is an amazing interpretation of your feelings on the subject of industrial society as monster. Wonderfully drawn, and imaginatively executed.
