Drawings are at once the heartbeat, the bones, the musculature, and the spirit of all art. Drawings constitute a unique language for each artist, and the viewer is privileged to glimpse the skeletal elements of the art process first-hand. Drawings are personal: they reveal , they are intended as notes, they are a means to an end, and they represent the embryo of genius...the moment of an artist's truth.

Wired
Definition (slang) of RAT:
A despicable person, especially one who betrays or informs upon associates.
Nobody likes a rat. Rats cannot be trusted, no matter how friendly and believable they may appear to be. Be careful of the company in which you keep and with whom you conduct business; for surely among that group, there exists a rat. Wired and tuned-in, this rat will do everything in his or her power to sell you out.
Making themselves look and feel good by corrupting your image is their game. If only everyone was secure with who they really are...
------------
"We are a nation of 'rats' and we all are bound by sin and suffering...so why deny anyone their identity."
Martin Scorsese / 'The Departed'

I love your drawings and your unique take on the subject.
You never disappoint me. This is spot on!
I'd hate to see a flying and wired rat, but your imagination on paper is just awesome. Great work!

awesome work.
brilliant style
Great stuff, as always... dumb question: is this charcoal pencil? I dig the result.
You are right, nobody likes a rat, but your is wonderful :)

This is a great illo. Really nice drawing quality. I also like the color you've used.
This is terrific, both the take on the subject and the style of your drawing! I particularly love his slightly-scary bolted-on tail!
Some of you have asked about the media...
It is just a pencil drawing on sketchbook paper, scanned into the computer. A sepia filter was applied and digital transparent color layer was applied in "Fireworks".
Thanks for your interest!
Awesome work! Beautiful detail.
Most times the rater is the ratee. Much like the one who smells it first...
There are so many great details - great rat! I love the sepia-colours.
I'm an insecure neurotic which may be why I'm so jealous of this piece. It is utterly gorgeous!
